Come to a Bed Turning
Please join us at Treasure Island (Lake Park and 55th) in the Cellar Room on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 a quilt demonstration by Claudia Moffatt. Claudia is a quilt collector and member of Salt Creek Quilters' Guild (Hinsdale, IL). Claudia will share her collection of quilts via a "bed turning" which is a type of demonstration that provides an experience different from a display where multiple quilts are hung in a gallery. In a bed turning, quilts are piled up on a bed (or other flat display platform) and two assistants lift and display one quilt at a time. The narrator describes the quilt, and gives information on the pattern, material and the history of the quilt, sometimes adding personal anecdotes, or stories about the quilter who did the work.
Claudia will present a number of quilts from her personal collection which contains examples from several decades of quilt making. This event is open to the public.
