Virtual Show and Tell
COVID-19 has put a crimp in our socializing (stay tuned, we're working on some virtual sit and sew arrangements) but we can still share our work with each other. Here is some of the work that our members wanted to have show and tell. If you have photos to share, email [email protected]

We had a busy spring and had several opportunities to spend time sharing our work and experiences. These blog entries include galleries of photos taken by our members at several events this spring.

Chicago Geese blocks form a flock!
During our November 2013 meeting, we spent time putting together all the blocks created by the individual members. Great progress was made and working together made even the tedious job of sashing the blocks fun!

Ruching, anyone?
At our May meeting we learned a new technique called "ruching" which is used to make flowers. This gallery is a place to show off the results of our ruching efforts. Send photos to [email protected] of your projects today!
LQG at the 57th Street Art Fair
Several members of the Lakeside Quilting Guild staffed an information booth in the Community Art Fair area of the 57th Street Art Fair, June 1-2, 2013. The volunteers chatted with lots of folks who were very interested in our quilts, and we distributed information about the guild, membership forms, and keychains. Despite some dampness, a good time was had by all!
Quilt for Hyde Park Transitional Housing Program silent raffle
A lovely quilt made by guild member Michelle to benefit the Hyde Park Transitional Housing Program. Thread & Beds Quilting Retreat, Danville, Ill. June 8th -10th
The retreat was both productive and relaxing. It was a cross between the craft cabin from your favorite childhood camp and lounging in a chic Florida day spa. The bedrooms were comfortible, the workrooms were accommodating and "Mae's Garden was sublime. Hummingbirds, handwork and good conversation, is there a better way to start the day?

Excerpts from Camille's Speech at the Grand Opening
Babies have been warmed by handmade quilts for generations. From the scraps of our lives and the workings of our hands, we have let the newborns know immediately that they are interwoven into the fabric of the family and the community. It is our hope that the love and compassion stitched into every quilt transcends to each newborn that is fortunate to be born at Jackson Park new OB Ward.
