We currently have 20 red and white blocks stockpiled toward a goal of a minimum of 35 collected by early 2014. Be creative, try out a new block pattern or technique, or use an old favorite. Anything from the simplest block to advanced techniques work great with this simple color palette.
One of our ongoing programs is our "Blockmaster" effort. Each member of the guild creates as many blocks in the current theme as she wishes. The Chicago Geese blockmaster challenge is now complete (we're assembling it right now for donation to the Hyde Park Transitional Housing Project). The current project is a Red and White block challenge -- any 12-1/2 inch block pattern or design, using only red and white fabrics. Coming in early 2014 is a return to a specific block pattern, but made in quilter's choice of batiks with background muslin fabric provided by the guild (more details on this coming soon.)
