In addition to all the creativity, we had a lot of good fellowship, with each other and with the other quilters in Danville. Not to mention fed each other delicious meals. And cheered the Blackhawks to victory during game 5 of the playoffs!

Ten Lakeside Quilting Guild members spent a recent long June weekend on retreat at Threads and Beds in Danville, IL. Lots of progress was made on various projects, both old and new. We were all excited to see Nik-ki's batik quilt of more than 9,000 pieces (some only 1/2 inch square!) begin to take shape. Michelle did some marvelous thread painting on a beach scene taken from a photograph. In two different "block of the month" efforts, Paula mastered paper piecing and Kathleen learned new piecing techniques. Katherine used her pre-cut stash strips to speed piece two baby quilts and start a glorious log cabin quilt in bright colors. Camille repurposed a pair of shorts in a darling pink/brown plaid into an adorable baby quilt. Jackie is ahead of the game and working on a holiday table runner in Christmas-y red and green. Pat worked on finishing her round robin piece and got the guild's Churn Dash quilt ready for the long arm quilter. Merry Beth started designing an art quilt, which we all cannot wait to see! And I finally completed the batik New York Beauty inspired wall hanging and found a few non-rainy minutes to take a photo in Mae's Garden.
In addition to all the creativity, we had a lot of good fellowship, with each other and with the other quilters in Danville. Not to mention fed each other delicious meals. And cheered the Blackhawks to victory during game 5 of the playoffs! Andrea
