Our program this month features our own Samantha Clark and is titled:
"Every Quilt Can Tell a Complex Story. Expanding Symbolism in Your Work"
Samantha will present her approach to symbolism in her work. Recent projects include original patterns inspired by the Black Panther movie and an exhibit about the Book of the Dead at U of C Oriental Institute. "I want to get everyone thinking about how they can expand their quilts to create narratives beyond a single image or symbol." A great example was former presenter Dorothy Straughter who is exploring the history of African Americans thru her quilts.
May is also renew your membership month. Dues are $20.00 for the year from May 1 - April 30th 2020. I will have the old forms that you filled out to check to make sure that the info is the same.
