Members of the Lakeside Quilting Guild came together via the magic of Zoom to hold a virtual retreat. We kicked off our retreat with a video train ride to ZigZag OR. People turned out in their finery, sporting fashionable hats for the journey. We had a workshop on quilt assembly using a webbing technique, drawings for door prizes, lovely shared meals (second breakfast with waffles, taco night), And of course, time for chatting and sewing...

The Value of “Value” Tuesday November 12th, 6:30-9:00 PM Augustana Lutheran Church, Hyde Park, 5500 S. Woodlawn Program fee is $10.00 for the public Free for LQG Members Grace Errea, http://www.amazingquiltsbygrace.com fiber artist, designer, quilter and author began quilting in 2000. Her art focuses on the depiction of inspiring scenes in a value based contemporary realistic manner. Many of her quilts have been exhibited in juried shows and have been recognized for their innovation in technique and depiction of nature and people. Lakeside Quilting Guild (LQG) will participate in the November Hyde Park Handmade Bazaar. We will be featuring some of our quilts as well as other handmade items. Proceeds are used to help support our community programs such as donations of baby quilts to hospitals and scholarship programs. A sample of the items for sale are show in the photo gallery below.
November 17, 12 noon- 4 pm Promontory Restaurant 5311 S. Lake Park Ave (53rd & Lake Park) 2nd floor behind Akira LQG meets Tuesdays in the United Church of Hyde Park 1448 E 53rd St. from 6:30-9PM. Enter through the Blackstone entrance. Formal meeting/program is the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Our former member and favorite hand quilter has done us proud. Marilyn Pospishil won 7 ribbons including best in show at the Monterey Country Fair. Many of her beautiful quilts she made while sitting and quilting with us.
Tuesday June 11, 2019 6:30 refreshments 7:00 – 8:30 presentation Augustana Lutheran Church 5500 S. Woodlawn Frieda Anderson, quilter and fabric artist, discovered hand dying fabric 30 years ago. Now she uses her own hand dyed cottons and silks exclusively in her work. In this lecture she will share her love for the art of quilting, the creativity involved in conceiving and designing new quilts and for the piecing, fusing and machine quilting to finish. Frieda’s quilts are nature inspired and machine quilted. Join us for a lecture and trunk show with Frieda Anderson -artist, author, lecturer, teacher and inspiration.
