Last April I went to the Original Sewing Expo in Schaumburg and bought lots of great fabrics at low prices. They too run an exhibit of finished quilts for the duration of the show. Classes are offered and prizes are given away daily including pricey sewing machines. All in all something I recommend for a quilter to attend. The next expo is November 15,16, and 17 at the Tinley Park Convention Center. At the April expo I saw 3 or 4 quilts being raffled by various local guilds. A booth is too expensive for us now, but we can "earn" one at the following expo by working half a day on behalf of our guild. If the individual works half a day, she can attend a class for free as well as getting free admission. Check out this info on their website www.sewingexpo.com under "Ambassador Program". It would be a great opportunity for all of us.

This is a great opportunity to become part of the greater Chicago Guild community. This may also lead to us having a presence a the State Fair, etc

I was in the State of Illinois Building (100 W. Randolph) downtown this morning and stumbled upon the Civil War Era Quilts exhibit at the Illinois State Museum (second floor). Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, the exhibit beautifully displays a dozen or so quilt with designs that we all recognize. Admission is free and the quilts will be on display through September 14, 2012 (M-F, 9-5).
